She is originally from South Africa, where she trained with Yvonne Brydon & Alison Rosso, completing her RAD ballet exams, AIDT Modern and Tap exams, whilst competing at several festivals and national competition events. At the age of 20 she started to train in Ballroom and Latin competing professionally for many, many years. At the age of 30, she was presented an opportunity to get back into tap, re-sitting her major exams following the new AIDT Tap syllabus. She completed her last exams whilst 6-months pregnant with her youngest daughter. She owned and operated her own dance studio in South Africa for many years.

Initially she freelanced, supporting competition students and various exam groups across ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap. Settling in the Hutt area in Wellington, she became involved with the Associated Ballet & Theatre Club, accepting the role as president in 2016.

In 2021 Zita registered DANCE TECH ACADEMY – the studio’s goal is to support passionate dancers, by focusing on strong foundational dance technique. The studio supports safe dance practices.
